I noticed there was a new BIOS, so I upgraded (old version: 202 new
version: 203).

I don't see any difference in behaviour; to recap, with USB ports
enabled, suspend fails since it can't suspend the usb3 device, with USB
ports disabled, suspend just hangs and the machine locks up (no kernel
panic; caps/numlock not blinking).

However, I did retry with no_console_suspend, plus I removed "quiet"
from the kernel cmdline, and added "verbose", and finally ran "sudo
dmesg -n 8" before attempting suspend. With all that, I do see some
kernel spew during suspend. It is attached as comment_6.jpg. It doesn't
offer me any real clue, since there are no error messages that I can
see, but at least it should point out where the hang is happening.
