The crash has not happened again during the session nor on subsequent
login. (I haven't needed to reboot yet.)
So it may still be due to a reboot being needed, or it may be due to a
regression from a recent update, or it may be due to a particularly rare
bug in n-m, or ...
Whichever, there's either an uncommon timing or event condition
involved.
