Sorry for my late response. There were some other issues with my 10.04 install. Had to hold shift during booting and manually select a kernel and at prompt startx manually to be able to hear and use audio and a bunch of other services on my laptop. Otherwise i even could“nt shutdown. I did a little research on this matter and found that it perhaps had something to do with ACPI and a bad/wrong dsdt.dsl for BIOS Version 3A45 and DDR2 ram. But this is for sure not in the scope of this post.
I already had the strace package installed earlier. Will place the attachment now. Hope you can use it for your investigation. Thanks a lot so far. PS. I changed the download location in software sources a few weeks ago to http://ubuntuarchive.eweka.nl/ubuntu. Just to look if this would make some difference :-) ** Attachment added: "At your service" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/grub2/+bug/657420/+attachment/1785348/+files/update-grub.trace -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/657420 Title: /usr/sbin/grub-probe: error: not a directory -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
