I have got exactly the same error. I am upgrading a stock fit2pc from
ubuntu 8.04 LTS directly to Lucid Lynx.

My first instinct is to remove lirc, but the upgrade is not urgent, so if
somebody wishes to look closer at this I'd be happy to help.
