Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: audacious-plugins

When I use the ALSA output plugin with audacious, everything works fine
on my laptop/netbook. But I want to have it play out through my USB
audio adapter, and when I select that output adapter in the list, I get
this (pop-up) error when trying to play a song:

snd_pcm_hw_params_set_channels failed: Invalid argument.

I tried downgrading the kernel in the boot menu, but it didn't help, so
I grabbed the latest source code (2.4.2) for audacious and the plugins,
and re-compiled everything using the latest -dev packages from the
ubuntu repositories.

The re-compiled latest 2.4.2 code also had the same error.

Looking in the ALSA source code in the audacious src code ( audacious-
plugins-2.4.2/src/alsa/alsa.c ) I found the line that contains
"snd_pcm_hw_params_set_channels", and commented that out, recompiled,
and everything worked ok (no error, and sound plays fine out my usb
audio adapter)

For what it's worth, this error also just crept into my system about a
month ago- everything was working fine in this configuration until then.
