Hello, I ended up on this board searching the error that killed my laptop, and I think it's the right thing to share my experience with you.
I installed Jolicloud on my Toshiba Portege 3500. It was working for about 30 minutes. Then it suddely froze. I restarted it, and... voila! The bios bad block 3 message showed up. Since then I can't start the laptop. It was working fine for 5 years, without any problem.
