the netbook was the one having problems running smb:// its running on upgraded from lucin meerat 10:10 however some updates received on january 5th resolved the issue for the netbook so i am able to read smb:// files coming from the desktop in the netbook now however soon after these updates the netbook has started to experiance problems with its touchpad which is why it took me so long to reply this time around.
