Public bug reported: My son in Toronto (I am in Ottawa) has a dual boot XP Pro/Feisty Beta set up on a Lenovo ThinkCentre M52 - P4 3.00 Ghz machine. We have been trying to make an ADSL connection to the internet for about a week with no success by following the instructions contained in this link:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ADSLPPPoE Windows XP Pro makes the connection without any fuss or muss using the XP connection wizard. Would it not be possible to build a similar wizard for Feisty? Failing that, how can I tell my son to make his ADSL connection work. Without this connection, Ubuntu is virtually useless for him as a busy senior executive. Someone has suggested that the problem would be solved if we purchased a dsl/cable router. But if this is the rememdy, how come XP manages the connection without a router? Your help would be greatly appreciated with this bug, which is a real gotcha! Thanks, as always, Maurice Murphy PS It will be difficult for me to duplicate this bug or to try various fixes, as my son is immersed in a high priority work project until at least 19 April. mm ** Affects: Ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- CANNOT CONNECT ADSL WITH FEISTY https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/104795 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
