Following a number of experiments with pps and ppt files, I have found
the following:

1. Opening a pps file in edit mode (ppt), shows a blank field for
"Sound" under the Slide Transition tab.

2. Using a ppt file, I can specify a sound file in the Slide Transition
Tab in LibreOffice Impress 3.3 rc2-3 and this will play after pressing
"Slide Show".

3. Saving the ppt file as ppt will loose the entry for sound and it
will revert to a blank field.

4. Saving the file to odp format retains the specified music entry and
the presentation will play with sound after activating the "Slide Show"
button.
