In 10.10, banshee-extension-magnatune 1.8.0-1ubuntu1~maverick1 does not show up as an add-on for Banshee. If that's fixed in Natty, then great.
As for the original complaint, of opening USC and searching for "magnatune", the issue there is that (a) Amarok has a .desktop file, (b) Amarok's package description specifically mentions Magnatune, and (c) whenever search results include an item that has a .desktop file, USC by default hides as "technical items" any results that don't have one. So, if you want either Banshee *or* the Banshee Magnatune extension to show up by default in USC when searching for "magnatune" (either of which would make the extension easy to find), there are five possibilities I can think of: (1) Add a .desktop file to the banshee-extension-magnatune package. (2) Remove the .desktop file from the amarok package. Obviously that won't happen. (3) Remove the word "Magnatune" from Amarok's package description. The Amarok developers probably aren't interested in that either. (4) Add the word "Magnatune" somewhere appropriate in Banshee's package description. (5) Change USC's search algorithm so that it returns Banshee when searching for "Magnatune" simply because the word "Magnatune" is in the title of one of the add-ons. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/701024 Title: Some "technical items" are not so technical -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
