Additional: 1. When this Ubuntu desktop was using DHCP, it was assigned the same DNS servers as I manually assigned when converting to static IP. (They are our enterprise's only two official DNS servers.) The vast majority of wired network clients here use static IPs. 2. Running "nslookup" then typing "server" and pressing enter shows both the DNS servers that I specified, but if I type a domain name and press enter, I get this: ";; connection timed out; no servers could be reached"
