The attached branch lp:~gary-lasker/software-center/restore-listview-
progress-feedback is part of the fix for the non-purchase item case. The
other part is in aptdaemon, and I'll attach that branch as well when it
is prepared.
The purchased item case is separate and will be addressed after.
** Branch linked: lp:~gary-lasker/software-center/restore-listview-
progress-feedback
** Changed in: software-center (Ubuntu)
Status: New => In Progress
** Changed in: software-center (Ubuntu)
Assignee: (unassigned) => Gary Lasker (gary-lasker)
** Description changed:
Binary package hint: software-center
- Ubuntu Software Center 2.1.21, Ubuntu Maverick
+ Ubuntu Software Center 3.1.9, Ubuntu Natty
For a non-purchase item:
0. Clear any authentication privileges, if necessary.
1. Navigate to the software item screen for a non-purchase item.
2. Choose "Install".
3. Authenticate.
What happens: 3. Once you authenticate, there is a wait of several seconds
before the progress bar appears.
For a purchase item:
0. Clear any authentication privileges, if necessary.
1. Navigate to the software item screen for a purchase item.
2. Choose "Buy", and complete the payment.
3. Authenticate.
What happens: 2. A progress bar bounces in the background while the
authentication dialog is up.
What should happen, in both cases:
2. The progress bar does not appear while the authentication dialog is up.
3. The progress bar appears, indeterminate, immediately once you have
authenticated.
I'm sorry I didn't make this clear in the spec. I'll merge it in whenever
this bug is fixed.
