Here Ubuntu is using 3 partitions: swap, root and home. The last two are using ext3 v1.0. I haven't modified Transmission's settings and things downloaded by it (seem to) go straight into my home folder. If this is relevant: on the same HDD I have a few other partitions with a recovery utility, windows vista and dell mediadirect installed, from which the first uses fat32 and the others use ntfs. I don't often mount them on Linux, though.
