Andy's patched kernel worked like a charm on my EEE PC 1001px, on which I originally noticed the boot-time error message. On the netbook 10.10 was installed in its own partition, separate from the bootable partition of the system (which has 10.04 on it).
Thanks Andy, terrific work. I was also one of the early greasy-well complainers about this bug, arguing that it's much more than merely cosmetic.
