Public bug reported:

Hi

I have a very fresh install of Ubuntu 6.06, with all of the most recent
patches applied. When I try to run Synaptic via the menu, 'nothing'
happens (the screen flashes as if a program started and then crashed
immediately). When I try to run synaptic via the terminal I get a
'Segmentation fault' message.

Additionally, I am notified of a system update (libwmf0.2-7) via the
icon in the menubar, but the update always fails. The update remians
uninstalled.

The only software that I have installed that I think might have anything
to do with this problem is Centrify (proprietary software to allow
Windows Active Directory users to authenticate via that mechanism).
However, I am not trying to run the system update via a user who has
been authenticated in that way, I am using the first account created on
the system.

This bug is repeatable.

If anyone can tell me how to fix this, please email me!

Cheers

C
