Hi Fabio Thaks for looking in to this case. I have verifiet that the iso (ubuntu-10.10-desktop-i386.iso) has the correct MD5SUM.
Meanwhile I have tried booting my other machine on the CD, and when I had waited 60 minutes for this to finish, I lost patience, and interrupted. Now I am burning a new CD, in order to try again. However, I don't think that this will make much difference. The machine that I am playing with doesn't contain vital data, mut I think it is a bit annoying if the present windows installation is really gone. My next plan is to try installing ubuntu 7.10 from an old CD I had lying around, for to see if it will be able to install and enable the dual boot option, and thus allowing me to access the Win partition. I will get back to you about how this goes.
