Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: software-center

The headphone jack used to work in Windows 7, but after installing
Ubuntu 10.10 the headphones don't work. When I use the headphones the
sound still comes out of the laptop as usual. I tried to edit this file
/etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf I added this line to the very end of it:

options snd-hda-intel model=toshiba position_fix=0

That appears to do nothing. My laptop is a Toshiba Satellite
L645D-S4030.

This is what I get when I run $ sudo lshw -c sound
  *-multimedia
       description: Audio device
       product: SBx00 Azalia (Intel HDA)
       vendor: ATI Technologies Inc
       physical id: 14.2
       bus info: pci@0000:00:14.2
       version: 40
       width: 64 bits
       clock: 33MHz
       capabilities: pm bus_master cap_list
       configuration: driver=HDA Intel latency=64
       resources: irq:16 memory:f4300000-f4303fff

Running $ alsamixer
tells me:

Card: HDA ATI SB
Chip: Conexant CX20585

How do I get my headphones to work?
