This is still happening with 10.10 but without the power off/on during the resume. I still have to force a power off and power up to get the screen. There is no disk corruption on the reboot, fsck is clean on the reboot. I'm using a MS-1733 from MSI which is the same mobo as the current gx700. However, I noticed above that the MS-1719x seem to be used in this gx700 in this bug report. Should I open a new bug report?
