I've been working on this as part of planning with the Ubuntu Advertising team. 
 So far in the UK I have one supplier of Ubuntu pre-loaded desktops 
http://www.elpatech.co.uk and am working on two 'barebones' manufacturers to 
see if I can work with them to carry out full testing on selected prebuilt 
specs.  My suggestion to them is for us to provide a wiki page which they can 
maintain rather than us.  I still await their response but will chase.  I would 
like to see Canonical push for a similar initiative in other parts of the
