I had this working under Edgy 10, mostly by playing a lot. I had to
reinstall so I'm listing the steps I took to get it again. (not all are
necasarrily required this is just what I did)
Set up edgy in English
Add Japanese to language support snap in
Configure following in SCIM snap in
-toggle on = zenkaku_hankaku
-toggle off = zenkaku_hankaku
remove English/Keyboard in "IMEngine>Global Support ( now only
Japanese>Anthy available)
Now at this point it works 50% I forgot what else I had to do but,
Open gedit and right click on the page. Got to Input methods and select SCIM
input method.
Japanese/English will now switch on the zenkaku/hankaku key.
I guess all that's left is to set SCIM as default input method, however
I'm supposed to be working not surfing ubuntu bug forums so I'll have to
hope this is helpful as it is and post again when I have time to play
more.
