Hello, I have the same problem, no drivers for sound card, and also no drivers for video card :( I have the same Mother board MS-7142 with K8M400(VT8380) chipset. I was not able to boot Ubuntu 10.10 installed on my USB drive. It would show that its booting, then i was getting "black screen", later on i did a little google search and tried booting with "ro nomodeset single" in grub instead of splash and i was able to boot. Even then its not detecting my hardware. I have used amd 64 iso image as i have AMD Sempron 64 bit processor.
