Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-control-center

For a long time now, I've been able to run an external monitor I have at
1920 x 1080 resolution.

However, after applying updates tonight, with Ubuntu Update Manager, I
can now only achieve 1440 x 900 on that same monitor; if I try 1920 x
1080, the monitor doesn't come on.

Did one of the recent updates change the default drivers for certain
models of computers? I have Dell Studio 17 and the monitor is a 23"
Gateway.
