Also, "compiz --replace &" is not the right command you are looking for.
You do not need to specify the '--replace'; simply using the following command
will do:
$ compiz &
It automatically implies the 'replace'
If you specify "--replace", then you need to specify *all* other parameters, as
well , which are required for compiz to work.
