Esp. if you know of bug reports against other distros (or upstream),
that could be extremely helpful in finding a resolution for this.
[Setting to importance high since it sounds like it might be a
relatively widespread issue, and that impacts usability pretty bad.
Sounds like this probably should get filed upstream too.]
