Binary package hint: update-manager
When I checked for new updates for Ubuntu 10.10 (Maverick) on my 3GHz
Celeron PC, the Update Manager [1:0.142.20(update manager)] presented
new updates for Wine and various MS TrueType fonts. These installed fine
on my Toshiba laptop but not on either of my desktop PCs.
Rather than updates installing error-free as usual, after I have
authorised them with my administrator password in my session, the
following error displays:

Clicking [Close] re-displays the following in the Update Manager window:

Free font with the same metrics as symbol
ttf-symbol-replacement (Size: 55 KB)

Microsoft Windows Compatibility Layer (Binary Emulator and Library)
wine 1.2 (Size: 10 MB)
Other Updates
handheld device font with extensive style and language support
ttf-droid (New install) Size: 2.0 MB)
Japanese TrueType font, Ume font
ttf-umefont (New install) Size: 48.0 MB)
The dialog states that: 5 updates have been selected and 61.0 MB will be
installed.
Note: Both the fonts in the Other Updates carry the change note that
"This change is not coming from a source that supports changelogs."
Regardless of what items are deselected (Wine 1.2.1 is already installed
on the PC in question) the installation fails.
