This is completely normal, and is why we automatically transitioned /etc/fstab from using enumerated names to UUIDs, and why the installer only writes UUIDs.
This method of device naming means that you always get the disk you meant, even if you open your computer and move around the cables. The slight downside is that your computer can introduce an element of randomness to the names, but by using the filesystem UUID or LABEL, this should not pose a problem. ** Changed in: udev (Ubuntu) Status: Unconfirmed => Rejected -- Udev is swapping hard disk /dev/sdX designations for PATA drive https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/105148 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
