You have been subscribed to a public bug by Jamie Strandboge (jdstrand):
Binary package hint: hamster-applet
1- ubuntu 904x86_64
2- hamster-applet 2.26.0
3- Open a report of activities
4- No report window appearing and error appears instead.
Another info regarding the crash:
1. I use hamster-applet to track work time spending.
2. I add activities and categories, though there is no way to delete
them (this is a hamster issue not related to the bug)
3. When adding categories or activities, modifying the name of an
existing category/activity produces a new category/activity added to the
one already existing. e.g.: I create a new activity named "Projet X",
but then realize i misstyped the word, so i want to modify the category
"Projet X" and change its name to "Project X". When i type over the
category/activity name and correct the mistake, i end up with 2
categories/activities one is "Project X" and other "Projet X".
4. Due to this issue noticed in item 3 i tried to find out where is the
hamster info located. Found it in the home folder in ./gnome2/hamster-
applet. There i find out that there is a DB file, SQLite format.
5. I install the app "SQLite database browser" to access the data and
remove all the misspelled names, or change them to the right ones. I
found out that "SQLite database browser" does not support typing
extended latin characters. When accessing the database i did following:
5.1. The categories/activities already used just modify the names that
did not require extended latin characters.
5.2. Removed categories/activities never used in the log.
6. After doing that i log out and log in to check how the things were
and i still can add categories/activities, but no Report/Summary.
I understand that using an external app to modify database is dangerous,
that is why i just removed never used categories/activities. This (add-
remove-modify) is something should be in the hamster-applet. Also
alphabetical sort.
Thanks a lot.
Best regards.
