There are (at least) three bug reports and a number of questions with respect to an attempt to upgrade from 10.04 to 10.10 failing with the error message "Could not determine the upgrade An unresolvable problem occurred while calculating the upgrade: E:Error, pkgProblemResolver::Resolve generated breaks, this may be caused by held packages. This can be caused by: * Upgrading to a pre-release version of Ubuntu * Running the current pre-release version of Ubuntu * Unofficial software packages not provided by Ubuntu" (e.g. bug 663158, bug 658458 and bug 658581)
Most of the persons had xserver-xorg-video-nouveau installed, and after removal of that package the upgrade went ok. As far as I can see you do not have xserver-xorg-video-nouveau installed, but several other xserver-xorg-video-... packages that IMHO are not needed on your system. I do not want to interfere with RedSingularity, but you might try to remove the unneeded xserver-xorg-video-... packages (those related to graphic chips that you do not have on your system) and try the upgrade again. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/682457 Title: upgrade to 10.10 "could not calculate the upgrade" -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
