Public bug reported:

I don't know what causes this behaviour.
When I boot the laptop, gdm doesn't work. I get a very small (0.5cm) purple
horizontal bar at the top of the screen.
The system is not crashed, but I can't even use Ctrl+Alt+F1 to switch to a text
terminal.
I can reboot with Ctrl+Alt+Del, but I get the same behaviour.

If I boot in recovery mode and run /etc/init.d/gdm restart, it also doesn't
work.
But if I reboot and boot normally again, it works.

Please let me know if you need the output of some files to help solve
this issue.

Thanks.
