I am confirming that this X11 performance problem is not present when I boot off of breezy live. I snarfed the xorg.conf from the breezy live configuration and tried using it. I also tried using vga=771 which was necessary in breezy but not in badger. Neither of these things completely solved the problem, though it seems that loading GLCore instead of i2c might have sped things up a little. I'm attaching the xorg.conf from breezy for reference. Perhaps there was a regression between 6.8.2 and 7.0.0 of xorg?
