Setting this to confirmed, as this happens with me all the time, since
the last Unity update, 3.2.16. On boot, only the cursor and the
wallpaper are present, and I have to run unity --replace to have unity
started, and toggle the show_desktop flag in the nautilus preferences
from gconf-editor to have the icons shown on the desktop.
