That seems to be some other problem.  Notice that you don't get the error
message.  If you are stacking pam_unix and pam_krb5 together, be aware
that pam_unix is going to reject the password if it's the same as your
local password even if it's different than your current pam_krb5 password.
If that's not it, could you send the syslog results of setting the debug
option for pam_krb5 while you're attempting to change your password?
