You have installed Ubuntu 10.04 LTS, which includes grub2 by default,
but have subsequently removed it in favor of grub1 without configuring
it. This is an error. Either you must manually configure grub1 for use
as your boot loader, or (preferably) you must reinstall grub2 by running
the following command from a terminal:
sudo apt-get install grub-pc
