Hi - I submitted a small python hack as a workaround for this problem;
it was driving me crazy too. Here's a link:

It simply disables the touchpad when keyboard activity is detected, then
reenables it very shortly after the keyboard activity stops. I'm looking
forward to decommissioning it :-)
