I have tried both nvidia-glx-new and nvidia-glx - both give the same result,
the x server will not start. I get the blinking cursor and have to copy back
the old xorg.conf to continue. After installing the module, I am enabling with
sudo nvidia-xconfig --add-argb-glx-visuals
I have also tried
sudo nvidia-xconfig --add-argb-glx-visuals --allow-glx-with-composite --depth=24
nvidia-xconfig seems to generate a good xorg.conf with my video card (Nvidia
Quadro FX2500M, a G71 series card) recognised, correct screen dimensions of
1920x1200.
(the depth option is there because because one time, nvidia-xconfig seemed to
set me up with a 16bit default visual).
I'm running kubuntu feisty beta, on a Dell Precision M90 laptop. The
kernel is 2.6.20-14.
In the log, I see

has the version 1.0-9631, but
