new versions of packages, in almost all cases are something for -backports
(see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UbuntuBackports for more information on
how you could get newer versions of bacula on older releases.)
Given a better understanding of the problem than "waits forever on storage
file" and "its fixed in 5.0.3", the specific fix could likely be pulled back to
a stable release.
Could you please verify that this is still a problem in the development
release (Natty's) version. Ubuntu's version of 5.0.2-2ubuntu3 is as new as
the newest available in debian. So, a fix of the issue is probably your best
bet.
Please try to explain the problem and how to recreate it, and then
maybe someone can get the fix into Natty, and then back into the stable
versions.
