Unfortunately it is, I can go quite some time with no incident, then it happens repeat-ably. It still seems most likely are update-manager, software sources, archive-manager, synaptic and the power button (other 'normal apps very rarely. If I happen upon a method to cause in a less than random fashion will relay ( At least here it's almost guaranteed that something bad will shortly happen after - if synaptic is opened unmaximized, then maximized, restored and closed.
