On the second boot, the screen showed three tiny copies of the splash screen, side by side, all compressed into the top 15-20% of the monitor. On the third boot, I waited the amount of time that this system normally takes to get to a login screen, and then I was presented with the following information displayed in small white lettering on a black background (as console messages are during boot time): first, the elapsed time which was about 17.62 seconds, then a statement which said general protection fault: 0000 [#1] SMP and this was followed by a processor register dump. I quit testing at that point. -- GPG signature B8DAC500 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/711056 Title: 10.10 display stalls just before login -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
