I have the same problem, not on Chromium, but on other apps like Gpodder, Thunderbird, Firefox 4...
For those applications, I selected "Keep in launcher" to always have the icon in Unity left dock, even if program is not launched. Moreover, I added these apps in the Startup applications, to have them automatically launched at Ubuntu startup. And when computer starts, here is what I get (see screenshot) : there are 1 or 2 icons, in additions to the sticky one, for these apps in the dock. When I close app and re-opens it from sticky dock icon, this time all is OK, I have no more icon, just the normal sticky one, and get the small white triangle on left showing app is active. ** Attachment added: "Unity-Startup.png" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity/+bug/695664/+attachment/1833521/+files/Unity-Startup.png ** Summary changed: - unity launcher lost track of chromium browser showing two icons for it + Unity launcher shows 2 or 3 icons for some apps (Chromium, Gpodder, Thunderbird...) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/695664 Title: Unity launcher shows 2 or 3 icons for some apps (Chromium, Gpodder, Thunderbird...) -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
