[ 1964.272463] usb 5-2: Incompatible driver and firmware versions
Any reason why the above would show up? I'm not overly familiar with the
sierra drivers, but I think this should appear in a LiveCD session as
well. Would it be possible for you to try this on a LiveCD and report
whether the issue can be reproduced there?
Note that NM always shows "not enabled" in the menu until there is
actually a connection attempted; so you'll still need to create a new
connection and try to start it before it says anything else.
