XDG_PICTURES_DIR="$HOME/Pictures"

But I also noticed:

XDG_VIDEOS_DIR="$HOME/"

I changed this to $HOME/Movies and Cheese created a ~/Movies/Webcam
folder on start. This appears to be the culprit.

Are the settings in ~/.config/user-dirs.dirs exposed in a UI anywhere?
I'm perfectly comfortable editing config files, but I didn't know
where to look. This is an obscure location, not very discoverable.

Having said that, it doesn't actually appear to be a bug in Cheese
after all, though it might have been nice to be able to set the choice
via the Preferences.

Thanks again Vish.
