I just tried the procedure and confirm that. I used right-click "open
with.." on a text file to start writer (as there is no libreoffice-
writer program etc.). After I do the "keep in launcher", I get a pale
white icon, but unity doesn't actually see it in its favourites:

$ gsettings get com.canonical.Unity.Launcher favorites
['nautilus.desktop', 'gtimelog.desktop', 'devhelp.desktop', 'mumble.desktop', 
'shotwell.desktop', 'firefox.desktop', 'evolution.desktop']

Sebastien tried that with launching it from the gnome-panel menu, and he
gets "libreoffice-writer.desktop" in above command.

I'm closing the LibO task, as it shouldn't require application patches
to make things work with the Launcher (that would break a lot of third-
party apps, backports, and an unknown number of universe packages, too).
