Public bug reported:
When I enable the desktop effects in GL Desktop/Desktop Effects in the
menu System->Settings the desktop turns to black and the only thing I
could see were the GNOME panels. Because I had activated the tray icon I
could easily switch back, but when I tried Compiz --replace & (which had
the same effect) I had to restart the X server. I don´ t know were to
get the Compiz error logs.
I'm running an up to date feisty beta.
I once had the same problem with Beryl + KDE, but I solved that to force
beryl to use AIGLX as render thing.
