If I go onto a Maverick box and print the file into a PDF out of evince
and then run
cupsfilter -m application/vnd.cups-raster -p /etc/cups/ppd/raster.ppd -o
PageSize=A4 output.pdf > x 2>y
I get the error you reported.
If I print your file into a PDF file on Natty, pass the resulting file
over to the Maverick box and run the mentioned command again, the file
gets correctly rasterized.
Generally, your file, printed into a PDF file with Maverick's evince
errors out when tried to display with Ghostscript:
gs -sDEVICE=x11 output.pdf
and gives a lot of warnings when trying to display or convert with
Poppler, for example via
evince output.pdf
If printing your file into a PDF file with evince on Natty, neither
Natty nor Maverick have any problems to display the output file. Both
Ghostscript and evince display it without any errors or warnings.
So for me it is a problem of libcairo (the library which produces
evince's PDF output).
** Package changed: cups (Ubuntu) => libcairo (Ubuntu)
