Hello,

This is a regression for Lucid from Karmic. I can confirm that this
is a bug in 10.04.1 LTS in pm-utils on an HP6910p laptop. It is not a
kernel bug per se. If I close the lid on my laptop on AC power it will
not suspend. It will suspend on battery using the lid close method. It
will suspend, either on AC or on Battery, using the CLI or using the GUI
menu, or using the Fn+F3 key combo.

This laptop suspended/resumed & hibernateed/thawed perfectly in Karmic
Koala 9.10. I believe that this is a regression in the PM-UTILS
package.

I can make the laptop suspend on AC power using the lid IFF I first
install laptop-mode-tools and configure /etc/default/acpi-support to
include using the now DEPRECATED acpi-support as a suspend method AS
WELL AS configuring laptop-mode-tools to use ACPI-SUPPORT on Battery,AC,
and AC with Lid Closed.

Interestingly, if I boot the laptop on a docking station ("dock" module
is specified in /etc/modules file)n wherein the laptop gets AC power,
then the suspend by lid DOES NOT work. Examination of the laptop mode
configuration file shows that "Enable laptop mode when lid closed" has
been set to 0 (or turned-off).

Q: Is the package PM-UTILS re-writting the laptop-mode-tools config
file? And if so, can this be hacked to prevent? I'm thinking that an
ugly hack would simply be to change the file permission on the laptop-
mode-tools config file.
