Checking and defragging the ntfs drive from Windows helped. It now
resizes and installs fine. I'll change the status and severity of the
bug to one suggesting ubiquity should provide better error messages in
such cases. Half-broken Windows installs are a common reason to install
Ubuntu :)
** Changed in: partman-partitioning (Ubuntu)
Importance: Undecided => Wishlist
Status: Unconfirmed => Confirmed
** Summary changed:
- fails to resize ntfs partition on virtualbox
+ ntfs resize failures sho informative
** Description changed:
i installed windows 2000 on an 8gb virtualbox disc and tried an auto-
resize install with edubuntu desktop. first it warned me that the change
- was irreversible and then failed to start the resize.
+ was irreversible and then failed to start the resize. -- turns out this
+ was due to a corrupted ntfs partition. The information about that should
+ be brought to the user.
