Public bug reported:

After a fresh install of Alpha2, I performed an update and the system
would no longer boot... so after a fresh install, I tried the update
with synaptic to see what it proposed to do. To my surprise it removed
grub-efi, and replaced it with grub-pc. It seems pretty obvious that
this is somewhat counter productive!
