I've created a separate connection in NetworkManager that has "Type" set
to "3G (UMTS/HSDPA), in the hope of avoiding fallback to 2G and hence
avoiding this problem. Using this connection today, though, I've had
the same behaviour: I get a message like this:

Feb 19 11:01:49 sole modem-manager: mbm_e2nap_received: disconnected

in /var/log/daemon.log, and the connection stop working but still seems
to be live in the NetworkManager applet.
