Right, I also drained the CMOS battery in hope of a reset - nothing. I just installed Ubuntu 10.10 on a cheap Acer Aspire 3680 and it works beautifully ! I used the same Live CD I did on the Toshiba. It's not the Ubuntu. It's something about those Toshibas... Toshiba should come up with a fix in my opinion.
