Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: gksu
On a system with freshly added groups sudo works as expected, while gksudo
doesn't add new groups:
$ sudo -u $USER id
uid=1000(user) gid=1000(user)
groups=1000(user),4(adm),20(dialout),24(cdrom),46(plugdev),111(lpadmin),119(admin),122(sambashare),128(libvirtd)
$ gksudo -u $USER id
uid=1000(user) gid=1000(user)
groups=1000(user),4(adm),20(dialout),24(cdrom),46(plugdev),111(lpadmin),119(admin),122(sambashare)
For the particular use case of sudoing to same user, gksudo does not
really add much functionality beyond plain sudo; as such this bug should
be considered to be a low-priority wishlist item. Return codes exhibit
the behaviour mentioned in LP: #470747, but that seems to be an
unrelated issue.
